ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

This course guides diverse small businesses through the essential steps for engaging with the University of Georgia’s procurement processes and maximizing the advantages of certification.

Participants will learn university vendor requirements, strategic networking, and practical techniques for increasing contract wins and expanding market opportunities.

  • Understand UGA's procurement procedures
  • Identify and meet supplier criteria, including necessary certifications, registrations, and documentation
  • Navigate the vendor registration process and learn how to access bidding opportunities with UGA
  • Strategically position your MBE/WMBE certification to access set-aside contracts, preferential bid programs, and state initiatives
  • Advocate for your business and present your unique value proposition to university buyers
  • Develop an action plan to leverage certification for increased visibility, contract wins, and long-term growth

She has provided support and guidance to business owners, both large and small, focused on growing their businesses. She is a Professional Certified Marketer (PCM)® with experience in marketing/communications plan development, strategy implementation, content management, new business development, relationship building, brand management, event planning, and website maintenance.

Tulu Kaifee

Tulu Kaifee is the Procurement and Finance Specialist at the UGA SBDC. She joined the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center’s Multicultural Business Division in October 2023 as a procurement and finance specialist. Tulu has spent over 20 years in the financial services industry with experience in the consumer, small business and commercial lending segments serving entrepreneurs across Georgia. Tulu’s passion to serve multicultural and underrepresented communities gives her a unique edge incorporating Inclusion, Equity and Belonging strategies to attract and retain talent in a competitive environment.
