This workshop provides an in-depth exploration of financing options available to small businesses, helping entrepreneurs make informed decisions about funding their ventures. You will learn how personal and business credit impact loan decisions, how lenders evaluate applications using the “5 C’s of Credit,” and how to build a strong loan package. The class will also cover the advantages and disadvantages of different forms of capital, enabling you to assess the long-term impact of each choice.
You will also be guided through understanding and interpreting key financial statements—balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Emphasis will also be placed on understanding basic financial management best practices to ensure and communicate your business’s financial health.

Terence Strong is a finance graduate of Emory University with a decade of experience across international finance, strategic partnerships, and philanthropy at institutions including the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and Rockefeller Foundation. He later co-founded and scaled a venture-backed e-commerce brand, gaining hands-on experience building consumer businesses. Terence also taught marketing, finance, and strategy within a global accelerator.
He currently serves as a Business Consultant with the UGA SBDC, advising businesses across industries with a specialization in DTC and CPG, and serves as liaison to the Morehouse College Entrepreneurship Center while pursuing a Master's in Management at Georgia Tech.
