Based in Covington, Georgia, Silt Saver is an American producer of performance-based sediment and erosion control products. Founded by Roger Singleton in 1999, Silt Saver is now a second-generation business with Singleton’s daughter, Stephanie Singleton, serving as president.
In 2020, the Singletons and general manager Keith Potter were looking to increase their online presence and expand their digital marketing efforts. Potter attended a UGA SBDC class focusing on LinkedIn strategy and was connected with Peter Williams, business consultant at the UGA SBDC in Macon.
Williams educated Potter and Stephanie Singleton on ways to leverage social media to enhance their current marketing efforts. Williams also assisted them in analyzing the company’s financial performance statements and restructuring the sales operations for increased efficiency.
Now, Silt Saver is selling on a much broader scope, and they plan to continue working with the UGA SBDC as new projects and challenges arise.
"I would advise another small business owner to reach out to the SBDC. We are all good at some things, but we are not good at everything. They are very helpful at building your business. Ask the questions and they can provide the assistance."
Stephanie Singleton, President, Silt Saver, Inc.
