Join us for Myths and Realities of Small Business Funding. This program will cover thenewState Small Business Credit Initiative program, designed to support small business’ access to capital, in addition to covering other various types of financing including: conventional bank loans, SBA-guaranteed loans, private equity, specialty lending programs and grant funding.
Our facilitators will delve into the common myths and misconceptions surrounding the financing of small businesses and provides a comprehensive understanding of the realities entrepreneurs face.
Through a combination of guided facilitation and class participation, participants will explore various financing options, debunk prevalent misconceptions, and gain practical insights into the various ways of financing a successful small business.

Howard Dent is the Specialty Programs Manager at the UGA SBDC. He brings 25-plus years of experience in banking, finance, and entrepreneurship. Prior to his role with the SBDC, Howard held positions at Accenture, Credit Suisse, and Wells Fargo & Co., where he and his team were responsible for raising over $3 billion in capital. Howard was the founder and Managing Principal of a mortgage finance company, overseeing all daily operations. Before that, he founded and operated a specialty-finance consultancy. In his current role, Howard works with businesses in the areas of procurement, certifications, financial management and capital formation.
